William Contreras' continued aggressive ABS challenge use was key to Brewers' NL pennant win

William Contreras caught every inning of the Brewers' 2026 postseason run while posting a 1.157 OPS with three home runs and five RBIs across eight games. Beyond his offensive contributions, Contreras excelled defensively by throwing out two base-stealers while allowing only two stolen bases and demonstrating improved success with the ABS challenge system in October after a mediocre 57% success rate during the regular season. Though Contreras ranked 45th among catchers in challenge accuracy during the regular season, he led baseball in aggressive challenge usage with 185 total challenges and ranked first in run value gained through successful challenges at 16.4. His continued aggressive approach to the ABS system in the postseason has been instrumental to Milwaukee's National League pennant victory.
