NL East Notes: Murphy, Mets, Marlins, Compton, Miller

Pat Murphy was a finalist for the Mets' managerial job in 2019 before they hired Carlos Beltran, with then-GM Brodie Van Wagenen advocating for Murphy's selection. When Beltran resigned in January 2020 following the sign-stealing scandal, the Mets again contacted Murphy about the position, but instead promoted Luis Rojas from within to maintain continuity before spring training. Murphy went on to become the Brewers' manager in November 2023 and has led Milwaukee to within three wins of a World Series title. The Mets have cycled through seven managers in the past decade, while the Brewers' success under Murphy highlights the contrast in organizational stability.
