Division rival Reds make Brewers’ top 2025 trade deadline target available on waivers

The Cincinnati Reds have placed 35-year-old third baseman Eugenio Suárez on waivers, making him available to any team willing to cover his remaining $2.5 million salary for 2026. Suárez was the Milwaukee Brewers' top trade deadline target last year when he was with Arizona, but the Seattle Mariners acquired him instead for three top-20 prospects. His performance has declined significantly since then: after hitting 49 home runs in 2025, he has just 19 this season with the Reds, and his OPS has dropped over 110 points. While claiming him would cost the Brewers no prospect capital, his poor production against left-handed pitching and limited defensive value make him a questionable fit for their stretch run.
